Do asserted patents have shorter independent claims?

What can the history of asserted patents tell us?
What pointers can we get to improve? I have analyzed 9,600 asserted patents from the last five years, and I am sharing a number of key findings, starting with insights drawn from claim analysis.
- Across most industries, asserted patents have shorter independent claims. Only ~10% exceed 300 words. However in pharma, biotech, healthcare, and education, the pattern flips.

- Asserted patents combine shorter claims with much richer disclosure. That combination shows up far more often than I expected.
