Product Targeted Continuation Recommendations: Know Who Each Filing Covers

Product targeted continuation recommendations in ArcPrime

Your continuation recommendations now tell you who each proposed filing would cover, so you can back the ones that create real product value. Until this month, a recommendation gave you a set of candidate claims drawn from the family and the public record, each a real filing option, but the ranking sat in the abstract. You had to work out on your own which candidate read on a product in the market, and whether that product was yours or a competitor's. That step decides whether a continuation is worth the spend, and now the tool does it with you.

Every continuation candidate is now annotated with a product mapping, and each one is labeled by whether its claims read more on your own products or on a competitor's. The recommendation tells you who a claim would cover, so you can weigh a filing for what it is actually worth to you.

Coverage and competitor readiness now help drive which candidate ArcPrime recommends. Instead of ranking candidates on patentability alone, the tool factors in whether a claim set closes a gap in your own product coverage or reads on a competitor's product, and it surfaces the recommended strategy on that basis. A candidate that protects your product line, one that supports a licensing position, and one that sets up enforcement are different filings with different value, and the ranking now reflects that.

The scoring behind it got more careful too. We tightened the prompt this month, so the likelihood numbers came down. That is deliberate. A more conservative read is one you can stand behind when you decide where the continuation budget goes.

None of this takes the decision away from you. The recommendation gives you a product-aware starting point and the reasoning behind it, so you spend your judgment on the filings that matter for coverage, licensing, or enforcement instead of sorting candidates by hand. You still choose what to file, and you still have the window to extend before it closes.

Run a continuation recommendation on a family you care about and look at the product mapping on each candidate. If you want us to walk your team through reading the new labels, reach out to support@arcprime.com.
